WHO WE ARE:

Dead Frog Volleyball is a traveling volleyball program that is geared towards ages 12 - 18.  We offer 3-month regional, 6-month regional and National teams (see below for program level information). Dead Frog Volleyball is affiliated with The Courthouse Athletic Center. All practices are held at our Kalamazoo location. Our coaching staff is comprised of college coaches, high school coaches, and college student-athletes who are committed to our mission. Our coaches are knowledgeable about the game of volleyball and use the most up to date training techniques.

DEAD FROG CLUB TEAM LEVELS:

 

State - (12’s - 18's):  Athletes trying out for a 3-month State team can play Winter (late December - March), Spring (mid-March - early June) or both sessions. There are two practices per week (days/times are to be determined), 4-5 play dates, competition level determined once teams are formed and most travel is to Grand Rapids with one minimal travel tournament (Detroit).

Elite - (13’s - 18’s): Athletes interested in trying out for a 6-month Elite team must commit to play a full season (December - June).  There are two practices per week (days/times are to be determined), 9 - 11 play dates, competition level determined once teams are formed, and travel is more intense including tournaments in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Detroit and Grand Rapids.

National - (14’s - 18’s): Athletes trying out for a National team can expect to compete in the largest and most competitive tournaments in the region and are expected to perform at their highest level.  National players must commit to play a full season (December - June). There are 3 practices per week (days/times are to be determined),

9 - 11 play dates, competition level determined once teams are formed, and travel will include Missouri, Indiana, Louisville, Detroit and AAU Nationals in Florida.

​WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRYOUTS:

To allow athletes a focused tryout without distraction and interruption, parents are not allowed to stay in the facility during tryouts.

​

Tryout Cost: There is a $50 non-refundable tryout fee.  We encourage you to pre-register online.  Pre-registration is to be completed by midnight the night before the tryout.  For those who register on-site the day of the tryout, will be required to pay a $60 non-refundable tryout fee.  If an athlete would like to tryout for both a National level and a Regional level, we encourage them to attend both tryouts.  Only one tryout fee is required for multiple level tryouts.

 

Tryout Format: Athletes will check-in, confirm birth date, grade, preferred position and program level.  They will receive a t-shirt with their tryout number.  For uniform sizing purposes, athletes will also be asked to try on jerseys and warm ups to allow us to place uniform orders as soon as tryout results are posted.  A Tryouts will consist of skill testing and game play situations.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TRYOUTS:

Tryout results will be posted on our website using the assigned tryout numbers.  Final team rosters will be assigned a few weeks after tryouts.  We will do everything in our power to place every player who tries out for Dead Frog Volleyball.  If for some reason we cannot place an athlete on a team, the athlete can be placed on a waiting list.   If a chosen player declines her position, athletes on the waiting list will be notified.  Once tryout results are posted, the athlete needs to accept her position via the Acceptance Portal on our website within 48 hours of the posting.

 

CLUB TEAM COSTS:

 

Club fees:  Pricing varies based on the age and level of the program.  You have the option to pay the fee in full by cash, check or credit card and via our website. We also offer a monthly payment plan, with a small finance charge.
